The BioDigital Human. It sounds like a modern remake of the Six Million Dollar Man, the moon? This is actually a fantastic web-based system that will let you visually and viscerally explore and learn about the human body and all the systems in it, in 3D.
The BioDigital Human. It sounds like a modern remake of the Six Million Dollar Man, the moon? This is actually a fantastic web-based system that will let you visually and viscerally explore and learn about the human body and all the systems in it, in 3D.
You can register to use it for free with an email address, Google account or a Facebook account. Like many newer free bit of software out there, it also offers a premium version that costs a modest amount of money, but the free version is excellent in itself it.
Among the different features you can access directly in the free version are things like dynamic 3D view of the various systems in the body. Systems such as the circulatory system or nerves, and muscles and others can be accessed as an instant layer on the first basic framework you'll see.
Everything is point and click and there is support (and easy to follow) menu on the left and right. Once you choose a particular system or combination of systems to see, you can then click on the part of individuals to learn the name of each and even learn what they do and how they interact with other systems.
In fact there is a great button to have the computer give the proper pronunciation of a given section after you select it.
Control navigator will allow you to zoom in and out, move and rotate the 3D view so that you basically have a virtual corpse in front of you to learn from, without having to deal with the smell of formalin or coroner.
Both male and female anatomy is available, so there may be something that you want your children younger look too closely (especially the reproductive part) if you are concerned with such things. Once you have explored the specific system to your heart's content (no pun intended) you can also explore a variety of symptoms and conditions that may be described by the patient's life to learn more about a particular condition or symptom.
Again, all of these features are absolutely free and the company that makes this program promises a high degree of accuracy. Which makes this one of the best resources for learning about human biology on the web. Just imagine how useful it could be just fifty years ago, and how useful it even now, especially for those in school or even practicing medical professionals.
There is more to explore and learn than what I have mentioned here, and the whole experience was absolutely top notch, so I would recommend it to absolutely anyone who has an interest in human biology. Everyone from students to artists and even healthy poets and writers can find something to entertain and educate by The BioDigital Human and, let's face it, it's just really cool! Good luck.
