Do you have small children in your home using the internet? Are you concerned about appropriate access to adult and other sites problematic? If so, this program may be what you need. 'Dns Angel' is a portable freeware for Windows that can turn your computer's default DNS provided by your ISP to replace it with one of the 'safe' some scrub DNS inappropriate or malicious sites, phishing sites and malware sites.
Stands DNS (Domain Name System), which is a database that translates domain names into IP addresses. Your computer uses one now to access the site, which may be given by the ISP. But the DNS service is actually exchanged, for example, you can choose to use Google Public DNS if your ISP block certain sites you want to access. On the contrary, there is plenty of free, public DNS service that blocks adult, pornography, and malicious sites or other suspicious. 'Dns Angel' only provides a quick and easy way to switch from your default DNS DNS service and back again if you want, at the click of a button.
How to use ‘Dns Angel’:
Download and extract it to the right places on your hard drive (preferably somewhere out of sight and not the desktop). Run the executable and then click one button to switch the DNS. 'Heart' icon in the top right will turn green, indicating that you are protected. To switch back, run again and click on the 'Default DNS'.
If you are not sure where to turn to DNS, choose none. You can just Google a different option to find out more, if you need to.
Note, however, that the DNS configuration for some reason seems to be specific to the network where you get internet connectivity. For example, if you use a laptop in the office and establish a secure DNS, you may find that a secure DNS is not set when you use your home WIFI.
Note that this solution is machine-specific. You will need to change the DNS on every PC in your home (and if you're worried about your iPad, Mac, or other device you will need to find a different solution for them).
Visiting inappropriate sites will generate the following notification (which will vary depending on the services you choose a secure DNS).

Pro:
- Simple, very easy to use, and portable
- Do not need to run in the background, use it once and you're done.
- DNS can switch back to the default at the click of a button
- Will protect against a variety of malicious sites, not just adult content (depending on the DNS service you decide to use)
Contra:
- WIFI connection or switching to a different internet seems to somehow return to the default DNS, which is rather strange.
- This will filter out some of the sites that you may not want to be blocked, as the site is very clean file sharing
- A user with some technical skills can manually switch to the DNS is limited, but that is not possible, and even less likely if it is small children you are trying to protect.
Conclusion
Excellent simple solution to the problem that many of us with children may be concerned. The fact that it can so quickly be enabled or disabled, and nothing needs to be running in the background all the time to make 'dns Angel' winner.
